Parbir is Associate Professor, Clinical Practice and Prescribing at the School of Pharmacy, University of Birmingham. She is Deputy EDI lead for the College of Health Sciences. Parbir has a personal and professional interest in equality, diversity and inclusivity (EDI) issues and works at school, college and university level. In 2020 she received a ‘British Empire Medal’ (BEM) for services to diversity and inclusion in health. She is part of the REDiC incubator to support progression and representation so that talented colleagues are recognised, visible and continue to inspire others.

Parbir works at a national level with professional statutory and regulation bodies including the General Pharmaceutical Society, Royal Pharmaceutical Society and NHS England around prescribing, education, competency frameworks and guidance.

Parbir is a Clinical Pharmacist and prescriber in general practice where she has worked for 24 years. As a practicing pharmacist for 32 years, she has a breadth of experience working in community and primary care with patients from diverse backgrounds and varying needs. Research interests include addressing health inequalities, developing services for persons experiencing homelessness and multiple drug allergies.
